To us, a pavilion is successful when it creates awareness. Our pavilion creates a visitor experience that makes the visitors aware of human impact on our planet. The experience is divided in 5 stages, based on a time axis of human impact. Starting with the earth before human dominance, to the past negative impact, to recent positive change, to a current stage where we can still make the decisions and ending with time for contemplation about the future. A linear routing provokes a sequence of 5 emotional responses that is linked to the 5 stages of the pavilion. By parametrically controlling the spatial properties we are able to design an emotional response and thus create a dramatic experience.
